The ‘Chhattisgarh Model’ of development amounts to putting money in the pockets of the poor, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday.
Money should reach labourers, women, youths, farmers and other cross sections of the society, he said. Calling it a need of the hour, Baghel said this would help the economy in the state to roll.
Interacting with the media after presenting the budget for 2022-23 in the assembly, he said if the common man had money, it will boost business, pushing up the industrial production.
He said the Abujmarh tribe had been denied benefits of government welfare schemes due to lack of documents. A survey of nine villages has been completed and land titles given to the forest residents.
The survey was in progress in 127 villages. The geographical conditions and Naxalism had hindered the survey but the work will continue, he said.
On the Godhan scheme, he said unwanted cattle numbers rose sharply as even cattle license holders withdrew from the cattle market and slaughterhouses shut down, leading to the menace of stray cattle.
This is why cow dung procurement was started, he explained. Women Self-Help groups now convert dung into compost and other products. Compost will promote organic farming amid a shortage of chemical fertilizers in the country, he said.
