PNS

The Chhattisgarh government has told all Public Distribution Shops (PDS) to provide free of cost foodgrains and chickpea to all migrants and workers after registering them by June 30.

Under the scheme, every person will get 5 kg of rice per month and one kg of chickpea free of cost per ration card. This will be done under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department Secretary cum Commissioner Dr Kamalpreet Singh on Thursday issued a circular to all the District Collectors to this effect.

The letter points out to the implementation of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ for May and June 2020. Therefore, all the migrant workers and others who returned to the state should be registered and the distribution should be ensured by June 30.

The registration of migrant workers can be done through the departmental website https:khadya.cg.nic.in/citizen/citizenhome.aspx. A mobile application is also being developed for the migrants.

The beneficiary's identity can be based on Aadhar number or Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or PAN card or Farmer’s Passbook with photograph or any other identity document having photograph issued by state or district administration.

The scheme is for migrant workers and persons having returned from other states. Till June 3, 16,482 families with 39,224 members have registered through the departmental website.
