Chief Minister  Raman Singh on Saturday appealed to the citizens of the State to participate whole-heartedly in the first phase of Pulse-Polio Mission to be launched on Sunday.

He added that it is the responsibility of the entire society to maintain the health of the infants.

Singh said that the Pulse- Polio Mission had been launched for the infants in the age-group of 0-5 years to give them immunity against diseases from Polio virus. It generally leads to disability. People should see that no infant is left without the Polio vaccine. It is a social responsibility of all the citizens.

The Chief Minister said that two Polio Vaccine drops will be administered to infants from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on January 28 at the Inoculation centres. Thiry-six lakh infants will be given two drops free of cost.

Singh said that with active co-operation of the State Government and citizens Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards ‘Polio-Free’ State but still there is need for abundant  caution. The coming generations should live a healthy life with no disabilities arising out of Polio virus.

He called upon the people to look for infants in the vicinity and take them to the nearest Polio centres.

Singh appealed to panchs-sarpanchs, urban bodies, Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats office-bearers to spread awareness among the masses regarding the mission.
