SR

More than two months have elapsed and there is still no clue on the whereabouts of TMT bar manufacturer lalit Agarwal and son Pankaj Agarwal wanted by the police in a case of using fake SAIl mark on the bars manufactured by them.

Cases had been registered under various sections in two police stations in the city against the duo for forgery besides other sections. Police sources said that the estimated cost of two manufacturing units of the accused is around Rs 250 crore which are likely to be seized. An award had also been announced for the people who provide clues on their whereabouts.

It may be recalled that during the month of April this year, a vigilance team from SAIl alongwith the local police in a joint operation had raided Pankaj Ispat and Alankar Allies located at Urla and had seized 300 metric tonnes of TMT bars with fake SAIl markings on them from the units.

Thereafter, a case was registered against Director Pankaj Agarwal of Pankaj Ispat at Gudiyari police station and lalit Agarwal of Alankar Allies at Urla Police Station.

The duo had been absconding ever since the cases were registered against them.

A police team was also sent to Nagpur and Bhandara to look  for the duo while a look out notice had also been served in case they had left the country.

The police had announced an award of Rs 10,000 each for persons who provide information on the whereabouts of the  father-son duo. The police had now commenced legal proceedings to seize the property of the oaccused.
