Panel counter checks statements in BJP MLA's killing

Staff Reporter

A special judicial inquiry commission set up to probe the killing of BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar in 2019 on Saturday counter-checked the statements of five witnesses.

This was done in the presence of the head of the judicial panel, retired Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, a press release said.

The Commission had issued summons to Ramkrishna Reddy, Komat Tati, Chaituram Korram, Jogaram Oyami and Gaurang Shaha.

One witness, R.C. Naik, was absent and he will be again summoned.

The Chhattisgarh government had set up the panel to investigate the killing of Mandavi and four security personnel in a Naxalite attack in Shyamgiri area.

They were killed on April 9, 2019 in an IED explosion while returning in their SUV after electioneering for the Bastar Lok Sabha seat.
