With a fortnight left for the paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh to end, the purchase of paddy from farmers crossed the 100 lakh tonne milestone on Tuesday.

The government has set a target of procuring 110 lakh tonnes of paddy this Kharif season. The last date is January 31.

An official communication said the government has made arrangements to issue online tokens along with normal ones to buy paddy at support price.

The procurement began on November 1 last year. A large number of farmers had chosen their own date to sell paddy through token issued through ‘Token Tuhar Haath’ app.

The communiqué said that this year 24.96 lakh farmers have been registered in the state, of which about 2.30 lakh are new registered farmers.
