The Raipur Police and the district administration are all set to launch second phase of  ‘Operation Smile’ for tracing missing children.

The month-long ‘Operation Smile-2’ will start from  Friday (January 1).

Aiming to chalk out a road map for the operation, Raipur District Collector Thakur Ram Singh on Thursday chaired a meeting which was attended by officials from Raipur police, district administration, district-level child protection unit, representatives of Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) besides others.

Meanwhile, Singh issued specific directives for rescue of children working as child labourers in hotels, factories, workshops, small industries, begging, street performances and helpless children at Railway stations.

Besides, he also directed officials to ensure necessary action for sending these children to their respective addresses whether it is adjoining districts or states.

Thakur also suggested officials to establish coordination with police and administration of neighbouring districts and the States for collecting information about missing and rescued children.

Moreover, the District Collector also directed Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat to constitute a Committee at Panchayat level to strengthen the operation.
