Only three-day Rajyotsav this year

SR

The State administration has decided to curtail the Rajyotsav from 7 days to 3 days thanks to Model Code of Conduct for the ensuing Assembly election enforced in Chhattisgarh. Due to Diwali festival on November 3, the Rajyotsav would be organised from October 30 to November 1. Also no exhibition of state departments will be held on this occasion.

Notably, to celebrate the Rajyotsav, the 13th anniversary of creation of Chhattisgarh, a meeting of all the Government departments was organised by Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar at Matralaya on Monday in which it was decided that this year Rajyotsav will be of three days instead of usual 7-day event.

The main function would be organised at Naya Raipur located Mela Sthal.

Inauguration as well as concluding ceremony will be performed by Governor Shekhar Dutt as Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and his cabinet colleagues will not be able to do so in view of the enforcement of model code.

According to decision, the exhibition organised by different departments of the State Government showcasing their achievements will not be organised this year as also no Bollywood artists, unlike previous years, will be called.

However, Confederation of Indian Industries will organise Udyog Pradarshani and local artists will present cultural programme at CSIDC’s Mela campus located at Mana-Tuta. The Chief Secretary has now written to the election commission seeking permission for organising the Rajyotsav.
