A railway employee died while another was seriously injured after they were hit by an oncoming train on the track on which they were carrying out maintenance work, officials informed here on Saturday.
As per official information, as there was mega block on home signal line at Hathband railway station SSE AK Chand from SNT department and Chandra Prakash, a machine staff, were working on it. Suddenly, a railway engine, used in carrying construction material from Bhatapara, arrived on the track on which they were working. So, the victims moved to the middle line.
Unfortunately, at the same time Barauni express arrived on the middle track, knocking them down, railway officials said.
SSE AK Chand died on the spot while Prakash Chand was seriously injured who was rushed to Raipur on the train carrying construction materials. He was admitted in a city based private hospital where his condition was stated to be serious.
