Officials brainstorm on being proactive

Upset over a couple of unwanted events during recent days which could not only be easily thwarted on the back of timely input, but also appeared to be complete failure of inter-departmental co-ordination on the ground, the district administration held a meeting on Tuesday in order to discuss how to be ‘proactive’ in place of remaining ‘reactive’.

The importance of the meeting which was held to discuss so many things ‘secret’ could be easily understood with the fact that all the police station in-charges of the district, the Deputy SPs, SPs, SDOs, BDOs, Cos, DDC, SSP and all other officials were present in the meeting chaired by DC Manoj Kumar.

“There have been a couple of events in recent days which could have not occurred if we appeared little proactive. Though we have remained strongly reactive and have been successful in confining after-effects. Then, we are on the doorsteps of festive season which starts from Jagannath Yatra. So, this meeting has been organised to strengthen our information system,” said Kumar.

He asked the BDOs, COs and Police Station In-Charges during meeting to develop and strengthen information system in their respective areas. He also directed them to add local youth in Muhalla Peace Committee under ex-officio chairmanship of the DC itself, and to include such people who could actively participate in meetings. “You will be held responsible for any unwanted event in your area,” said the DC to the Cos and Police Station In-Charges. They were also directed to conduct meeting of Woman Committee with Rozgar Sewak and Ward Member at least once every week in their respective areas.

likewise, SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi asked them to dispose of pending cases at the earliest. He asked them to identify extra-sensitive areas and to conduct Peace Committee. “Every community is infested with at least one or two people who are always ready to ignite communal violence. We have to identify them and book them under Section-107,” directed the SSP. He also asked officials to identify anti-social elements before festive season starts, and book them under appropriate sections of law.
