Demanding removal of the hostel warden of Government College of Science, the City Wing of National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Monday staged a demonstration in the city.

A large number of students and workers of the student wing of Congress party gathered outside the college gate and shouted slogans against the Superintendent, Dr BG Sharma. The protesters hurled many allegations against Sharma and demanded his  removal from the post. NSUI district president, Pradeep Sahu alleged that Sharma, who has been working as the hostel warden from last about eight years, is misusing the post.

“During the last seven years, Sharma has not returned caution money of Rs 4000 to any hostler. Sharma has taken possession over many rooms of the hostel including room number 1, 10, 12, 27, 28, 29, 38, 50 and guest room for his own use. The warden neither participate in any activity in the hostel nor obey the Principal’s instructions. Sharma also compels the hostel workers to do his domestic work” alleged Sahu.

The protesting youths tried to enter the college premises but were stopped by a heavy police contingent deployed on the spot. The agitating protesters then sat on the spot and demanded to meet the College Principal to apprise him about their demand. The students ended the protest only after the College Principal came to meet them and assured of taking appropriate action in the matter.
