The Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) has set global parameters for the project support team which would deal with planning and architectural aspects of the rapidly evolving high-tech new capital of Chhattisgarh.

Some of the key activities to be performed by the team out of a myriad set of tasks required for developing a high-tech city are-review and modification of development plans and development code as per NRDA requirement and need of the specific project and policies.

Moreover, the team would identify phases of development besides identifying future requirement of various social, cultural, educational, health and other facilities to be developed in phases and suggest suitable land parcels for the same.

The NRDA has decided to provide office space with furniture to the project team in Naya Raipur.

Notably, Naya Raipur is among five other cities in the country chosen as 'Demonstration Cities' for the Centre's ambitious Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP).

The final five cities participating as 'Demonstration Cities' under Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) are - Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Mysore (Karnataka), Naya Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad (Maharashtra).

Detailed project profiles were prepared by all cities with the assistance of the SUTP Consultants and then endorsed by the SUTP Steering Committee to be included to SUTP as 'City Demonstration Projects', officials stated.

NRDA, to cite an example, is going for an 'Intelligent Rain Water Drainage System' fixed with indicators to send alert before water logging or flood situation with option for automatic valve opening system, officials stated.

It plans of developing a project comprising IT-enabled systems to manage a host of utilities using state-of-art technology.

The design would comprise IT-enabled land management system,  city surveillance besides a host of other systems till now popular and being used only in the developed countries.

The other city management systems include intelligent lighting systems, pay and use parking systems, city guide map available through web browser, intelligent transport system, city level wi-fi touch screens across the city, display boards across the city for providing real time information, emergency alert and crisis response systems, traffic re-routing applications based on real time traffic data.

The city would also have a Central Control Center for monitoring all the services including central traffic control and management system.

Notably, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) had also accorded 'five star rating' to the better energy efficiency practices at the State Mantralaya here.

The high rating had been provided for better energy management in the Mantralaya's offices.

The Mantralaya achieved the Energy Display Index of 81.49 which made it eligible for a high BEE rating, officials stated.

The BEE divides buildings and weather on five and three categories respectively under which buildings are categorised as 'air conditioned' and 'non air conditioned'.

The Mantralaya had been accorded rating under 'air conditioned' and 'mixed climate'.

The Mantralaya constructed by Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) has a developed area of 64,162 square meters out of which 68 per cent is air conditioned.

The total annual power consumption of the Mantralaya building is 57, 27260 kilowatts.

Moreover, the new capital is also being supplied 1.1 MW power from non conventional sources.

NRDA is also installing lED street lights along with elaborate infrastructure development for power supply on Non Motorable Transport (NMT) roads at a cost Rs 5.86 crore.

The lED lighting cannot be stolen by anybody and is fully automated which is also known as 'Smart Street lighting Control'.

The entire system is connected through a laptop through GPRS and any tampering with the lights triggers an SMS message, officials stated.

Notably, the various world class recreational and general public facilities in the Public Experience Zone in Central Park of Naya Raipur is also proposed to be powered by a set of Wind Power equipments in the State's rapidly evolving high-tech new capital.

A total of six wind power equipment would generate 30 KW of power, officials stated.

The Central Park would also comprise an irrigation system for watering the sprawling lawn area of the park.

The play area in the Central Park for children would have 45 equipment including kiddies, swing, slides, see-saw, scrambler, fitness, thriller, multi activity play system, merry-go-round and rubber mat play zone.
