The Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) has commenced the process for construction and development of the Phase-I of Christel House School at Sector 25 here. The NRDA had signed an agreement with Christel House, an International charity in March last year. As a part of the agreement, NRDA will provide land and infrastructure for a Christel House school in Naya Raipur. The Christel House will apply its experience and resources in a variety of disciplines including teaching,  community outreach, finance, administration and so on to educate impoverished children in the State.

Christel House was set up in Bangalore in 2001 by entrepreneur turned philanthropist, Christel DeHaan from the USA. The objective of Christel House is to provide education, nutrition and healthcare to children from the poorest of the poor sections of society and make them economically independent and contributing members.

Raju Shahani, MD and Chairperson, Christel House India had stated last year , ‘We are proud to be a part of yet another State’s drive to provide good quality education and values to children from economically backward sections of society.' The Christel House is the only charity that completes the cycle by taking children in Kindergarten, providing them education till Class XII, mentor them to pursue degrees and diplomas at State universities and finally place them in jobs. The partnership with the State Government is a validation of our success story in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where we operate our schools in Bangalore and lavassa, he said.

The NRDA is also in the process of developing a state-of-art Model High School in the new administrative capital. The school would be developed in phases. The estimated cost of the Phase-I of the project is Rs25 crore which may vary, officials stated. Naya Raipur is also coming up as a hub for global education as the process for development of Phase-I of the state-of-art campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM)  will commence shortly.

The Phase-I of the campus is being developed at a cost of Rs296.45 crore with the completion of the works being  estimated within a period of two years, they stated. Significantly,  the State Government had been focussing on providing an elaborate platform for various  institutions to establish their state-of-art campus in the new administrative capital.

The State Government has also established the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Naya Raipur as a University, under a PPP model between the Government of Chhattisgarh and the NTPC. The IIIT is expected to offer B. Tech. programmes, with 60 seats each in CS and IT from academic session 2015-16.
