People will no longer have to move from table to table or take help of the agents as Regional Transport Office (RTO) has started online registration for issuing a driving licence here.
The new system will not only facilitate the applicants but also bring transparency in the system. The RTO has established counters at its office here and an ‘e-Service Centre’ for receiving online applications. The new system is a result of an initiative taken by District Collector Ritu Sen who wanted a system that can deliver the services on time and transparency could also be maintained.
Regional Transport Officer SK Kanwar said that as many as 616 applications have been received under the new system out of which 419 driving license have already been issued.
Kanwar said that after receiving the application, the Department decides a date as per convenience of the applicant to be present for his interview. The interview includes a test in which the applicant has to answer ten questions. An applicant is deemed to have passed if he gives six correct answers.
The license is issued to the applicant within seven days of the conduct of the test. An applicant has to submit the document in support of his date of birth, two photographs and an identity proof. In case a candidate fails, he is called back for test within eight days. A fee of Rs500 is charged for a learning license.
Dimple Gupta of lakhanpur and Mamta Bharti of Patpariya said that they had applied online for the learning license. They followed the prescribed procedure and were issued license with ease by the RTO office.
“The new system is very simple and convenient for the people. We are satisfied by it and ask others to apply online to get driving license,” they said.
An applicant has to go to the website http:// www.cgtransport.org and login. Thereafter he has to click on ‘Online ll appointment and select new ll appointment.’ The applicant will have to fill the entries and select time and date of appointment.
After saving the application form, the applicant has to deposit the requisite fee through online payment with help of State Bank of India Internet Banking or debit card. The application is registered by the concerned RTO office and the applicant has to reach the office as per the date and time of appointment.
