Even as the management of OP Jindal Institute of Technology (OPJIT) has held its ground not to compromise on the quality of students it would prefer for its Engineering course following Department of Technical Education's insistence on admitting168 students, the State Cabinet on Tuesday decided to bring a law to take over the property of higher educational institutions for a period of five years in case 'arbitrary decisions' are taken by their management.
The OPJIT management on Saturday in an emergency meeting held on Saturday night in Raigarh had taken a decision to close down the institute while stating that it would not compromise on the quality of education at the institute and was ready to offer admission to students only with 70 or more per cent marks in the Higher Secondary examination.
The Cabinet on Monday endorsed the decision to bring a law on taking over the property of higher educational institutions for a period of five years.
