This year no public programme will be held on the ‘International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples’ on August 9 in view of the coronavirus pandemic. But Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will address the state through video conferencing, officials said on Wednesday.
“The state government has decided that on August 9 - International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples - at district level programmes will be held through video conferencing which the Chief Minister will address," an official press release said.
Distribution of land ‘Patta’ to the beneficiaries under the Forest Right Act (FRA) will be held. Also, outstanding students at Eklayva and Prayas residential schools run by the Tribal Welfare Department will be honoured, the statement said.
The Secretary in the Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development department, D.D. Singh, has issued detailed directives for District Collectors for holding the event.
The Collectors have been asked to distribute certificates under the FRA. In his video conference, the Chief Minister will also interact with the beneficiaries of FRA, officials said.
