On his return from New Delhi, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel challenged former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh to prove with evidence that any action being taken by the incumbent government is politically vindictive.
Interacting with media persons, he said the government was merely continuing the probe commenced during the period of Raman Singh government.
On question of Shiv Shankar Bhatt’s statement indicting Raman Singh in PDS scam, he said Bhatt was also in the close circle of former Chief Minister and was given patronage. That they (Bhatt and Singh) were hand in gloves in the scam had now been revealed. Bhatt was two appointed twice in Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited.
“Raman Singh says the offence has been registered on the basis of a statement of the accused. Was he sleeping when crime was registered against P Chidambaram?. He is now languishing in jail. He also did not get bail. In that case also the offence was registered on the basis of a statement of an accused. How Raman Singh suddenly got to know about it,” Baghel said.
On the ration card scam as mentioned in Bhatt’s statement, Chief Minister said Raman Singh was being called ‘Chourwale Baba’, now it has come to notice that 21 lakh fake ration cards were made and the scam is of around Rs 36,000 crores. “Law will take its own course,” he added.
Baghel said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi have been invited to campaign for the party in Dantewada by-poll. The functioning of government has been briefed to them. Discussion had been held on membership drive along with preparations regarding Gandhi Jayanti. Discussion was also held on launching agitations against central government.
Commenting on party MLAs statement against school education minister, Baghel said everyone should air their grievances at party forum only. He said they would hold further discussion on the subject.
