No more starvation deaths in Chhattisgarh now: Raman

Staff Reporter

Now, Chhattisgarh does not have to shed tears on the death of its children due to starvation despite having vast tracts of fertile land and unaccountable treasure of mineral wealth nor does it have to beg any development scheme from the Centre, as during 10 years of Bharatiya Janata Party rule the State has not only become a rice supplier, a zero power cut State, but is also standing in the line of forward States holding its head high, said Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.

Addressing a mammoth public meet cum party workers convention at Narharpur in the tribal dominated Kanker district on Monday in support of BJP candidate Sanjay Kodopi, Dr Singh said that he had come to seek the blessings of the people and was hopeful of getting another chance for forming the Government in the State third time in a row on the basis of achievements of the last 10 years.

launching an scathing attack against the Congress, Dr Singh said that from Jawaharlal Nehru to Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and now Rahul Gandhi, all merely floated the slogan of Garibi Hatao (Poverty Alleviation) but even after 65 years of that party’s rule the inflation is sky high making the life of poor miserable as even the onion is now selling at Rs 60-100 per kg.

While seeking mandate of people in 2009 leaders of Congress had promised to control inflation within 100 days of coming to power but, as 4 and half years have passed since then, inflation stayed but the leaders of the grand old party are nowhere on the scene. They hardly have the morale strength to ask for people’s mandate now, the Chief Minister said.

Dr Singh said, when he had first time come to power in the year 2003 the State was considered as ‘Bimaru’ but during the last 10 years of BJP rule the situation has completely changed, Now we are  not only supplying rice to 7 States after ensuring food to all in our own State, in the field of power production, agriculture, management of forest produce and development schemes for masses too we don’t have any more to look for help to the Centre, a complete turnaround in the image of the State, Dr Singh claimed.

He also ruled out any dissension in the party over the allotment of tickets. On this occasion, BJP candidate Sanjay Kodopi and other local leaders also addressed the meeting urging the party workers to work unitedly to ensure victory of party candidate with thumping margin.
