NMDC ltd has received the prestigious “Most Efficient Navratna of the Year” — in the Non Manufacturing category at the 6th Dalal Street Investment Journal (DSIJ) PSU Awards.
Dr T R K Rao, Director (Commercial) of NMDC received the award on behalf of NMDC from Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Union Minister for Railways and General (Retd) V K Singh, Union Minister of State of External Affairs and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for North East Region in presence of K D Tripathi, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises and other dignitaries at a function held on March 23 in New Delhi, a NMDC press release issued here stated.
NMDC received this award in recognition of its mines which stand testimony to scientific mining wherein the output per manshift is maximised through efficient utilisation of manpower and machinery. Even the productivity per employee is also touching new heights every year and today NMDC apart from being the largest producer of iron ore in the country, it is also known to be one of the low cost producer of iron ore in the world.
