For the first time, farmers in Abujhmad area in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district are able to avail the benefits of government schemes.
Until now, they did not have any lease as villages were never surveyed. So they could neither sell paddy in Large Area Multi-Purpose Societies (LAMPS) nor could they avail the benefit of government schemes, an official communication said on Tuesday.
In four villages of Orchha block, where a revenue survey has been completed, pattas (leases) have been distributed to the farmers, marking a new dawn. The farmers are now availing the benefits of government schemes.
Satyanarayan Usendi, a farmer from Kurusnar village, sold paddy at support price for the first time and earned Rs 16,000. He also received money under the first instalment of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
On Saturday, at the foundation-laying in Narayanpur, Usendi thanked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for allotting the lease (patta) and said he has started receiving the benefits of government schemes.
In the villages which have been surveyed, works such as land leveling and ‘dabri’ construction have been done in the fields of the farmers under government schemes. The entire village has been fenced and borewells have been installed in the farms.
The Agriculture Department is providing proper guidance to the farmers.
In response to Baghel’s question, Usendi said about 40 farmers are doing farming in his village. They have 4 to 8 acres of land. He could sell 10 quintals of paddy for the first time.
The government is ensuring survey of the villages as a priority. Initial survey of four villages in Orchha block has been done. As a result, 1,041 farmers of these villages will be able to make use of government schemes.
