Security forces shot dead a Naxalite who carried a reward of Rs 1 on his head in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Saturday, police said.
A gunfight took place around 10 am in a forest between Surnaar and Tetam villages when the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was on an anti-Naxalite operation, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava said.
"After the exchange of fire, the body of a Naxalite, identified as Muchaki Masa, was recovered from the spot along with a weapon," he added.
Masa, who was active as a Jan Militia commander, was involved in a number of violent incidents in the area, Pallava said. A search operation was launched at the site, around 400 km away from Raipur.
