Chhattisgarh’s tribal-dominated Narayanpur district on Thursday bagged a national award for excelling in Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation’s Jal Jeevan Survey 2023.

An official communiqué said the public welfare schemes and programmes of Chhattisgarh are being widely appreciated at the national level.

The Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has honoured Narayanpur with a citation for the excellent work in the Jal Jeevan Survey under the Aspirational District Programme, it said.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated the people of Narayanpur and officers and employees of Jal Jeevan Mission for this achievement.

The communiqué said that providing safe drinking water to every rural household in Narayanpur was a challenging task because of the difficult topography.

“But the task was accomplished despite the challenges, and for this accomplishment, Narayanpur district has been honoured by the government of India." For Narayanpur, Jal Jeevan Mission had set a target of providing safe drinking water to 30,322 families, out of which tap connections have been provided to 18,072 families.
