My father is the architect of Chhattisgarh, claims Amit Jogi

Staff Reporter

Chhattisgarh’s first Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi is the architect of Chhattisgarh, claimed his son Amit Ajit Jogi who is a Congress legislator from Marwahi.

Accusing Chief Minister Raman Singh of terming the Central UPA Government as the ‘speed breaker in development’, the junior Jogi said that during the last ten years, the Congress led-United Progressive Alliance Government has allocated Rs 1.50 lakh crore to Chhattisgarh for development. “The funds were allocated through different schemes including for procurement of paddy, public distribution system, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and other welfare schemes’’, he said.

The figures of the allocated funds the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself gave during a meeting at the indoor stadium at Raipur late last year, Amit Jogi pointed out. “Whichever awards or honour Chief Minister Raman Singh has received including the Krishi Karman Puraskar for the highest paddy production it was for the implementation of different central schemes,’’ Amit Jogi further added . With making any discrimination, the Central Government has been assisting the state for the development on the both Naxal infested districts and other areas.

He also said it was the pressure from Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi that the NDA Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee was forced to give Chhattisgarh a separate State. The Congress men in the State had also carried out marches, agitations and suffered in jails demanding the bifurcation of undivided Madhya Pradesh, he said. Taking a dig at Chief minister Raman Singh for describing the UPA Government as ‘speed breaker in the development’ of the State, the junior Jogi further said such statement is totally false and baseless.
