Continuing its drive on the fourth day, Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday took action against several hotels in the city for commercial usage of parking lots. The owners of the establishments have been instructed to step up arrangements of parking facilities for the public.
Acting on the instructions of RMC Commissioner Awanish Kumar Sharan, Hotel Babylon Inn, Hotel Celebrations on Jail Road along with Happy Restaurant, Hotel Ellora, Hotel Royal Ambience, Hotel Rishika, Hotel Simran, Hotel Simran Heritage, Hotel Dolphin, Hotel Sunhome were sealed for commercial usage of their parking lots. The owners of the hotels have been told that if they are found repeating the offence, the civic body will take strong actions.
Most of the hotels were penalised for using their parking lots as storage sections while some operated bars in the parking space. On the third day of the drive, a team of RMC inspected Zone V and took action against business establishments who were using their parking lots for commercial purpose. An education institute in Zone VIII was sealed for using its parking lot for commercial purpose. Inadequate parking space in the city has become the cause of inconvenience for both commuters and traffic police.
The civic body will deal with such offenders strictly and act on any information of tip-off coming from the residents of the city.
