In an unprecedented move mayor and other ruling party corporators on Tuesday staged a walkout amid pandemonium in the Raipur Municipal Corporation’s general body meeting, stalling the annual budget presentation and discussions on other listed businesses.
The general body will again be convened on July 3, at 11.00 AM.
Proceedings were disrupted when raising various issues, including lack of cleanliness work in various wards, BJP corporators staged protest. One of the corporators Manoj Prajapati, from Shankar Nagar ward, even threw muck, brought from drains, inside the hall to make his point.
Later, when Mayor Pramod Dubey was speaking on upcoming garden project in Raipur municipal area under the Smart City project, the BJP Corporator Mrityunjay Dubey started to interrupt the speech. Irritated over regular interruption, Mayor boycotted the proceedings citing indiscipline.
Later, all Congress corporators also left the meeting leading to adjournment of the meeting for the day.
