Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication (KTUJM) celebrated its 10th foundation day with senior journalist Rahul Dev as the chief guest and lN Sheetal as the special guest in a programme organized on Wednesday. The Vice-chancellor, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, presided over the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Dev called upon the students to have command on their mother-tongue if they wanted to make some valuable contribution for nation-building. “It is the mother-tongue, or the Indian languages, that acted as a backbone of this country’s cultural, social and economic activities for thousands of years. As we are moving more towards English language in our day-to-day conversations, all the Indian languages are on the verge of death. If this happens, the soul of this country would die,” Rahul Dev added.

He asked the students to master the English language simultaneously with their own mother-tongue to enhance their skill and get better jobs.Senior journalist lN Sheetal spoke about the degrading standards of Hindi language and feared that it would be disastrous for the country in the coming days.Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi also shared his concern over the language. He asked the students to become the agents of change by their deeds.
