Media groups could be the next target of the Modi government, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) President Rakesh Tikait said on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters at the airport here, Tikait urged the media to support the farmers protesting against the farm laws enacted by the Central government and warned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could now target media houses.
“Extend support to us, otherwise you will be gone,” he said.
Tikait praised the Bhupesh Baghel government in Chhattisgarh and said the excess price, rather than the MSP, was a welcome step and other states should follow the model.
Tikait was here to address a Kisan Mahapanchayat at Rajim in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district.
The event was held under the aegis of the Chhattisgarh Kisan Majdoor Mahasangh (CKMM), an umbrella body of farm outfits. Activists Yogendra Yadav and Medha Patkar also attended the event.
The main demand of the Mahapanchayat was the withdrawal of the three farm laws and enactment of a law to ensure minimum support price for agriculture produce.
