The Congress sponsored bandh of Bastar region evoked mixed response on Thursday. The Congress party had called for bandh in protest of cane-charge over its party workers in Jagdalpur recently.
Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) Spokesperson Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari termed the protest as ‘successful’ and said that the present regime wants to suppress the Opposition’s constitutional right to protest.
“Cane-charge has displayed dictatorial nature of the ruling BJP government. Police is also working as 'BJP agent' in Bastar region as they could not bear the protest held in democratic way,” he alleged.
