SR

Accusing the Chhattisgarh Home Minister Ramsevak Paikra of not having knowledge of the Indian Penal Code, City District Congress Committee president Vikas Upadhyay, advised him to study the book of Indian Penal Code.

In a press statement issued here on Saturday, Upadhyay said that rape incidents in the entire Chhattisgarh have put a question mark on the working system of the Raman Singh Government.

Whereas, the irresponsible statement by Home Minister Ramsevak Paikara, who is responsible for the security of the State, that ‘rape occurs by mistake’, was a direct insult to millions of people of the State especially women of Chhattisgarh.

Terming the rising rape incidents in the State “a failure of the Raman Singh Government,” he said that the Home Minister has been making efforts to boost the morale of rapists by making irresponsible statements.

Along with the Home Minister, he advised other Ministers of Raman Singh Government to study the law books and acquire knowledge on sensitive issues such as rape. He said that the home minister should have knowledge of rules related to rape from the sections 375 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code.

Vikas Upadhyay led a protest rally from the Congress Bhawan to the residence of the home minister on Saturday. However, the police blocked the Congress rally and arrested hundreds of workers, and sent them to central jail.  The Congress has announced to intensify its protest against the Home Minister.
