Maoist insurgents on Friday killed a tribal youth at a village in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district branding him a ‘police informer’ while two labourers injured in a pressure bomb blast in another incident in Bijapur district, police said.
The tribal youth identified as Amrit Darro, a resident of Arra village under Amabeda police station limits, was killed with sharp-edged weapons at his native place, Kanker Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jayant Vaishnav informed media persons.
As per preliminary information, a group of insurgents stormed into Arra village, located around 250 kms from state capital Raipur, and dragged the victim out of his house before killing him on the spot. Soon after getting an alert, security forces were dispatched to the place to recover his body, and a manhunt has been launched in the region to nab the assailants.
While in another incident, two labourers were injured in a pressure bomb explosion suspected to have been planted by Naxals near an under construction road site in Bijapur district.
“The incident occurred while the workers were carrying out construction at Fundari hills on Bijapur-Bhairamgarh road under Bhairamgarh police station limits,” Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela informed.
While work was underway, the labourers accidentally came in contact with a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) laid by the Maoists, which exploded injuring their faces, the ASP said.
The injured were identified as Shubam Roy and Manoj Vishwakarma, both aged 21 years. Soon after the incident, security forces rushed the injured to a local hospital from where they were shifted to Jagdalpur for better treatment, the ASP added.
