Maoists create panic through pamphlets

Staff Reporter

Maoists have called for boycott of the Assembly poll and put up posters and pamphlets on Kirandul-Bacheli Road Sunday night leading to panic in the area.

Same type of pamphlets and posters have been recovered by security forces also in Dantewada, Narayanpur and Rawghat area.

Notably, The Maoist insurgents have been issuing diktat to boycott in every election and this time too they have given the boycott a call.

Posters and pamphlets put up on Bacheli and Dantewada Roads by Maoists asked people to stay away from elections or else be ready to face the consequences if they dared to cast their votes. Police have seized these pamphlets.

Same pamphlets were recovered by paramilitary forces during their patrolling in between Narayanpur and Rawghat asking people not to participate in the voting process.

These areas are highly infested with Maoist insurgency and therefore the pamphlets calling for poll boycott have created panic in the area even as all the 12 Assembly constituencies comprising seven districts of Bastar division and six assembly constituencies of Rajnandgaon district are going to polls on November 11.

Taking the boycott call of Maoists seriously, the administration stepped up vigilance instructing security officials to maintain law and order in the area strictly.

It is noteworthy that to ensure free and fair poll in Bastar the administration has deployed additional 400 companies of paramilitary jawans and also organising awareness programmes for people to convince them about the necessity of voting.
