Reacting strongly to Congress State president Bhupesh Baghel’s allegations regarding withdrawal of nomination by Congress candidate Manturam Pawar from Antagarh constituency, BJP State spokesperson and MlA Shivratan Sharma said that the former should introspect before indulging in the blame game.
In a statement here, Sharma said that Baghel has failed as Congress State chief and he should take the responsibility for the party's failure instead of holding others responsible for it.
He said that Pawar had clarified that he was least interested in contesting the election but Baghel made him the scapegoat.
“Pawar fell victim to the internal factionalism and groupism in the Congress and had publicly said that he was forced to file nomination by Baghel despite his disinterest,” Sharma said.
He said that Baghel was trying to hit multiple targets with a single strike in the war of dominance in the Congress by giving ticket to Pawar but the move has proved destructive for Baghel himself.
“Baghel's act has proved him to be a novice and Congress has failed to challenge BJP in Antagarh. He cannot save himself by holding others responsible for the episode,” Sharma said.
The Congress has consistently failed to play the role of Opposition and the present episode is a result of internal feud. Baghel and Congressmen are solely responsible for the Manturam episode, added Sharma.
