Body of an .elderly person was found dead behind the Government Women’s Polytechnic College under the limits of Kotwali Police Station on Thursday.
The old man might have killed himself by shooting with his rifle as a suicide note was also recovered from the spot, said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Pankaj Chandra. According to police, the deceased was identified as Niyaz Ahmed (80). “The gun was found trapped between the thighs of Niyaz. In the suicide note Niyaz mentioned that he was fed up of his life and was alone responsible for the extreme step,” the ASP told The Pioneer over phone.
He said police got information about the incident around 8.30 pm and immediately reached the spot. Forensic experts were also summoned on the spot who have collected the evidence. Prima facie evidence suggest it was a suicidal case, the ASP said, adding that detailed information about the man was being collected. A case in this connection had been registered with Kotwali Police Station.
