Chhattisgarh Police on Monday arrested a 31-year-old man from Haryana and brought him here for cheating an electrical trader of Rs 29.90 lakhs after promising him a business loan.
Arun Verma hails from Sonipat in Haryana, Raipur (City) Additional Superintendent of Police Tarkeshwar Patel said.
The complainant alleged that Verma made him deposit Rs 29.90 lakhs on various occasions in different accounts for securing the loan in October- November 2020.
But the loan materialized and Verma stopped taking his calls. The victim then approached the police.
Based on technical analysis of mobile calls and bank accounts, a police team arrested him in Haryana. Three mobile phones were seized from him.
