Chhattisgarh will continue to remain the zero power cut State with addition in its production capacity by successful synchronisation of Madwa-Tendubhatha Thermal Power Project. The capacity of this first super thermal power project of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company limited (CSPGCl) is 500 MW, officials  stated.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, CSPGCl Chairman Shivraj Singh and Principal Secretary of Energy Department Aman Kumar Singh congratulated the company’s Managing Director SB Agrawal besides officers and employees on successful synchronisation of the project.

Explaining about the achievement, Agrawal said that under-construction thermal power project in Madwa-Tendubhatha village of Janjgir-Champa district has two units each of 500 MW. The synchronisation of first unit was done on December 20, 2013 while synchronisation of the second unit was done at 8.37pm on March 30, 2015. The credit goes to the team work of the officers and employees of the company.

Agrawal said that the Madwa-Tendubhatha project comes under Green Field Project. Such projects are constructed at places where all basic facilities are developed right from scratch. There are numerous challenges and problems in setting up such projects.

However, completion of such projects opens new avenues of development. Apart from employment, the people of the area around the project also get benefit of education, medical facility, transportation and telecommunication, said Agrawal. Both the units of the project will soon become operational. With this the production capacity of CSPGCl will increase to 3424.70 MW, he added.

It is worth mentioning that at the time of formation of the State, the capacity of CSPGCl was 1360 MW and has been enhanced to present capacity of 2424.76 MW. At the time of formation of State, the company had only 50MW, 120 MW and 210 MW capacity units. The company had made revolutionary progress by establishing units with capacity of 250 MW to 500MW.
