Staff Reporter

Chiding the  Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanad Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai for sending half hearted reports regarding the teachers’ availability, infrastructure and other facilities in private engineering colleges, lok Ayog has asked the varsity to send a complete report by October 10.

Notably, acting on a complaint regarding various irregularities in 22 private engineering colleges in the State, the lok Ayog had earlier written to Technical Education Department and CSVTU  to send a report on the issue. However, as the private engineering colleges avoided sending the actual status report to the university, CSVTU sent a report to lok Ayog with whatever details it had. The half hearted report enraged the Ayog which again asked the varsity to send complete report by October 10.

In its turn, the Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Tech University  sent strong warning to Engineering colleges to send the details about faculty position and other facilities in their institutions latest by September 25. This time also the engineering colleges are not coming forward to provide details to the varsity as CSVTU officials are not in a position to say how many colleges sent the details by the deadline. They, however, maintain that the report to lok Ayog would be sent on the fixed time.

It is noteworthy that even after the notice of lok Ayog to Technical Education Department and CSVTU, no changes have been seen in condition of private engineering colleges who are  facing crunch of appropriate number of able teachers. Most of the colleges continue to provide wrong information on their website regarding faculty position, infrastructure and other facilities.

These colleges are running the show mostly on the strength of junior assistant lecturers. Even these junior teachers are not paid as per the norms of University Grants Commission. Even after charging hefty fees from students these colleges do not have labs. Due to these irregularities students studying in these institutions are suffering the most.

Registrar CSVTU GR Shau talking with The Pioneer over phone said, “the lok Ayog had sought a report from the us about the availability of various kinds of infrastructure in the private engineering colleges. We have already sent a report however report from some colleges was lacking that will be sent by October 10.”
