Lockdown ends in Raipur but curbs remain

Staff Reporter

A week-long lockdown in Raipur district that was imposed on September 21 has not been extended but the Chhattisgarh government on Monday imposed several restrictions to combat the spread of Covid-19.

After reviewing the results, it was noted that lockdown is not a permanent solution of Covid infection but its link can be broken in a much more effective way with physical distancing, wearing mask, washing hands and sanitizing, an official press release said.

Though the lockdown has ended, many restrictions have been announced on day-to-day business.

Shops and commercial places will not function after 8 pm; petrol pumps and medical shops will function as they were; and restaurants will offer only take away and home delivery and only till 10:00 pm.

Social distancing and masks will be mandatory in offices and so will be hand washing, the press release said.

If any office is found violating these norms, then its head will be held responsible and will have to pay penalty.

Failure to cover the face in public place will attract a penalty of Rs 100, violating home quarantine will lead to a penalty of Rs 1,000 and people who spit in the open will be fined Rs 100, the press release said.

A fine of Rs 200 for violating physical distancing in business places will be charged from business owners.

Failure to pay fine or repetition of violation would result in FIR and even closure of shops for 15 days, the press release added.
