The BJP’s lok Sabha candidate in Bastar, Dinesh Kashyap, has moved to the interior pockets of the Maoist-infested regions to pace up his campaign with barely six days remaining for the first phase of polling in Chhattisgarh.
Kashyap faces stiff contest from Congress party’s Deepak Karma and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Soni Sori, both of whom have been campaigning with their own set of agendas in which development remained their key poll plank.
“I have started moving into the remotest parts of Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur regions to meet the people now. I hold meetings with them and move on,” he told The Pioneer, when contacted over phone from Raipur.
He said that despite severe communication handicaps in the interior parts of Bastar his campaign is moving in the right direction.
“Small public meetings have been held by me across Bastar and they are still continuing. I have been provided adequate security so there is no problem in moving in the interior parts of Bastar,” Kashyap said.
