The supporters of former chief minister Ajit Jogi are reportedly keeping a distance from Congress candidate for Korba lok Sabha seat Dr Charandas Mahant. Four days are left for the polling, as such, Dr Mahant is facing problems with the Jogi faction.
According to sources, Pali Tanakhar MlA Ramdayal Uike was not coming out for campaigning, whereas, former MlA from Manendragarh Gulab Singh has been showing non-cooperation.Dr Mahant is contesting against BJP candidate Dr Banshilal Mahato. In the assembly election, the Congress got victory with 46,000 votes in Marwahi area and with 31,000 votes in Pali Tanakhar seat. However, Dr Mahant is facing difficulties in maintaining this lead in the lok Sabha election.
Marwahi MlA Amit Jogi has become active in the area after completion of Mahasamund election. However, Pali Tanakhar MlA Ramdayal Uike is not coming out for campaigning for Dr Mahant.Former MlA from Manendragarh and close supporter of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, Gulab Singh is considered as a strong opponent of Dr Mahant. Mahant has not been getting support of Gulab Singh. However, Mahant has invited former chief minister Jogi for campaigning in his lS area. He has been making efforts to appease the rebel leaders also.
Congress party's national vice-president Rajiv Gandhi had addressed an election meeting in Korba in favour of Dr Mahant. However, he has not been getting the cooperation of some Jogi supporters in Korba.
