A District Reserve Group (DRG) trooper was on Sunday injured when a pressure bomb laid by suspected Maoists went-off in a forest pocket of Dantewada district, police said.
The incident took place
in the wee hours between Nayanar and Gatam villages coming under Katekalyan police station when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation, according to SHO Katekalyan police station Vijay Patel.
While the security personnel were cordoning-off a forested patch near Nayanar, a jawan inadvertently stepped on to the pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED), triggering the blast that left him injured, the SHO said.
The security personnel were conducting an operation since Saturday night in the interiors of Katekalyan, located around 400 km from Raipur.
“Constable Pratap Singh Markam, belonging to DRG, sustained injuries on his legs in the blast,” the SHO said.
Soon after the incident, securitymen were rushed to the spot and the injured jawan was evacuated to Katekalyan from where he was shifted to Dantewada for treatment, said SHO, adding that the operation was still underway.
