The sleuths from Investigation Wing of the Income Tax (IT) Department on Thursday carried out a major search operation by raiding two dozen premises of Sumeet Group engaged in diversified businesses across the State.
The raiding team seized cash and gold valuables worth several lakhs of rupees apart from recovering incriminating documents and data on financial transactions made.
Of the 25 premises raided in Chhattisgarh, 15 premises of the group are in Raipur alone including its Corporate Office at Malviya Road, IT department sources stated.
The other premises searched by the sleuths were situated in Korba, Rajnandgaon, Bhilai, Durg, Bhatapara, Rajim, Bilaspur and few locations in neighbouring Odisha State.
Meanwhile, in Rajnandgaon district, a team of IT sleuths raided a shopping complex that houses, Sumeet Bazaar and Sumeet Jewellers and carried out search operations.
