State government on Wednesday assigned an independent agency to probe into construction quality of expressway.
Official sources informed that Minister for Public Works Tamradhwaj Sahu constituting a new probe committee also ordered to remove in-charge chief engineer of the expressway construction work.
Earlier internal probe committee of the public works department was investigating into the matter. Dissatisfied with the progress of the probe, the committee was dissolved and Office of Chief Technical Examiner working under General Administration Department of the state has been asked to conduct the inquiry.
The new probe committee would investigate into the matter with the help of technical experts from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and National Institute of Technology (NIT) and will submit its report mentioning and fixing responsibility for the sub-standard construction work.
Notable, following heavy downpour in capital city craters were developed in the expressway, which resulted in even one car accident around a week ago. Ruling Congress members alleged rampant corruption during the BJP regime and termed the construction work of expressway a glaring example of it.
