The State Congress president Dr Charandas Mahant on Wednesday, on the preparation of his CD, said that he himself is the CD and “Kisi ke Bap ki Himmat Nahin hai, jo Meri CD Banvaye” (No one has the courage to make my CD). His CD had never been made.
Expressing thanks to the Election Commission of India for the free and fair election in the Naxalite-infested Bastar and Nandgaon districts, Mahant said that the Congress would be benefited from the peaceful and impartial election.
Dr Mahant said that he had demanded from the election commission to deploy 50-60 battalions additionally in Bastar, besides GPS and photography of polling. The commission accepted his demands. Now, people would cast their votes without fear and naturally the Congress would get its benefits, he added.
Mahant alleged that the BJP had tried to make alliance with Naxalites. On the rape allegation on the Masturi MlA Dr Krishnamurthi Bandhi, Mahant said that the woman had complained of rape against Dr Bandhi. Earlier also, complaints of rape at girls hostels have been made. He said that Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh was also responsible for vitiating atmosphere of the State.
On being asked that election campaign could not picked up speed, Mahant said that the Congress has started election campaign late. Only 35 days’ time got for it, but now, electioneering is going on the right manner. Though his weapon might be blunt, but it would chop the neck of the BJP, Mahant said emphatically.
