With massive efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign is witnessing a significant response from across the nation, said Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly Gaurishankar Agrawal on Tuesday.
“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Raman Singh, several steps were being taken in Chhattisgarh to save and educate girl child,” he said while addressing a programme organised to felicitate girls for their remarkable achievement and spread the message of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ at Kharora-based Bharat Dewangan Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Agrawal also participated a series of rituals involving newly born children and expectant mothers.
Highlighting the importance of education for girl child, Agrawal said literacy among girls and women is going to bring awareness in the society and eventually take the nation on the path of development and prosperity.
Woman and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu, former Minister and Convener of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign Chandrasekhar Sahu, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Text Book Corporation Devji Bhai Patel, MlA from Arang Naveen Markandey, president of District Panchayat (Raipur) Sharda Verma, President of Kharora Nagar Panchayat Nisha Devangan and others were have registered their presence during the programme.
Meanwhile, cheques to the tune of around Rs5 lakhs were distributed to 11 beneficiaries under Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh Yojana.
