State health minister TS Singhdeo on Friday pledged to donate his eyes and said the act gave immense satisfaction and fulfillment.
“The fact that our body can be of use to other people even after our death is a matter of satisfaction. People should donate their eyes and promote eye donation,” he said after completing the formalities for the same.
The minister signed on the documents related to eye donation at his Rajkumar College based residence in presence of officials from district prevention (blindness) committee.
The minister was of the view that there is a need for clearing the misconceptions related to eye donation.
“During eye donation only through a small cut the cornea from the eye is taken out. In no way is the body disfigured and though eye donation you can give vision to another person,” the minister stated.
Along with Singhdeo his special assistant Anand Sagar Singh and Aditeshwar Sharan Singhdeo also pledged to donate their eyes.
