A hardcore Naxal carrying cash reward of `8 lakh on his head was arrested from the insurgency riddled Dantewada district, police said on Monday.
“The held ultra was Section Commander of Platoon Number 2 of Maoist company number 2. He was also Commander of West Bastar division action team,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Dantewada, Kamlochan Kashyap said.
According to the police, the rebel was wanted in connection with various murder cases and State government had declared cash reward of `8 lakh on his arrest.
The left wing extremist (lWE) identified as Rati alias Raghu alias Pungar Madvi resident of Gangaloor, Bijapur was arrested by a small District Reserve Group (DRG) Action Team acting on confirm intelligence input, he said.
Raghu had joined Maoist cadre in 2006.
After working as gunman for various Naxal leaders he was appointed as Commander of South Bastar Regional Committee in 2011-12.
Since February 2015 he was working at the present capacity, Kashyap said.
“He was sent to Dantewada for performing recce of Maoists who have surrendered,” he claimed.
During interrogation he confessed of his involvement in murder of a SPO
Munnaram Markam at Faraspal in 2001. likewise Raghu also accepted his role in killing lalu Bhaskar of Kamlur in 2014.
In May 2015, the ultra murdered Sukkuram Oyami and Chitranjan Bhaskar at Kehsapur along with other Naxals, the SP mentioned.
