Harassed by some influential persons of her locality, a ward corporator, belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party which rules the State, demanded permission of district collector to allow her along with spouse to embrace death. She also submitted a memorandum to the President through the collector.
Bharatiya Janata Party corporator Reena Sonwani, wife of Santosh Sonwani came to attend Jandarshan programme at the collectorate Tuesday afternoon. Narrating her plight, Sonwani told the collector that she was terrorised by an influential person of her ward and his henchmen as they threatened to kill her husband and expressed the fear that any untoward incident could occur any time with the couple.
She told the collector that she has lodged complaint with the administration/ state government at several occasions but no action was taken against the accused yet. Therefore, she is willing to end her life along with her hubby on their own instead of being killed by someone else, she reportedly told the collector. After submitting a memorandum to collector N S Mandawi, Sonwani demanded that she along with her husband should be given permission to embrace the death. After listening the desire of the corporator to commit suicide, the stunned collector not only comforted her but also assured of taking action against the accused person soon.
