Upset over reported sexual assault on minor girls at Ashram (boarding) school in Narayanpur district, Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday reiterated that guilty would not go scot-free.
Terming the incident highly shameful, Singh said in a statement that a police case has been registered and a massive search operation was launched to apprehend the accused who is the husband of the Ashram’s superintendent.
Chhattisgarh on Friday reported a shocking case of sexual assault on a few minor girl students who were put in at an NGO-run Ashram school at Dhanora, based in a remote forested area of insurgency-riddled Narayanpur district.
“The Government has taken the case extremely seriously and the District Collector as well as the Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur district have been asked to investigate into the case,’’ Singh stated, adding, “the accused would soon be in the police custody and Government would ensure a tougher action against him,’’.
Meanwhile, the Congress State president Bhupesh Baghel and leader of the Opposition TS Singhdeo said that Chhattisgarh had been witnessing sexual assault on minor girls at Ashram schools on regular basis and the BJP Government was failing to contain such cases.
“In the recently concluded session of Chhattisgarh Assembly, TS Singhdeo had raised the demand to ban stay of male members of hostel wardens’ families in the girls’ ashrams. The BJP Government had said in the House that it was impractical,’’ the Congress statement said.
The Congress alleged that even after several similar incidents such as Jhaliayamari case in Kanker district, the Raman Singh Government failed to learn lessons. The Congress, challenging the national leadership of the BJP, said that why the party was not showing the morality it had shown in the case of Nirbhaya in Delhi, in the case of two tribal girls of Chhattisgarh.
Singhdeo said that looking to such disgusting issues like increasing corruption, mismanagement, maladministration, deteriorating law and order situation, it has become clear that the morality of the BJP government has exhausted. The Bajrang Dal and RSS remembers show morality on Valentine Day, when they abase the youths in the name of morality, but remain silent on the abuse of the daughters of Chhattisgarh, he added.
