Govt welfare schemes for disabled failing: Cong

Staff Reporter

Congress members Arun Vora and Daleshwar Sahu on Friday drew attention of the Chhattisgarh Assembly on welfare schemes for the differently abled persons in the State.

They charged that the welfare schemes were not reaching the true beneficiaries and the State Resource Centre (SRC) situated at Mana in the city had failed to provide proper training to them.

The legislators also charged that the officials posted in the SRC at Mana were committing irregularities. “Even the audit report at the SRC was dumped after deformation in the details of documents”, they alleged.

The government instead of taking action on the guilty officials is sheltering them, the members said.

Replying to the motion, Woman and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu refuted the charges that the SRC was a complete failure.

A total of 12 training programmes have been conducted in the current year and as per funds being made available, publicity of the beneficiary schemes are done, she said.

The targets set in the previous year had been achieved and all the welfare schemes were running smoothly, she said.

The Minister also ruled out the charges levelled by the two members about irregularity and corruption in SRC, Mana and said that audit till the financial year 2015-16 had been done while process for audits of year 2016-17 and 2017-18 was currently going on.

Sahu admitted that some irregularity cases had been noted and said action against the guilty official was under process.

She also denied that there was any anger or anxiety among differently abled persons of the State.
