nThe Chhattisgarh government on Friday ordered a probe into an incident wherein a pregnant woman was denied health services leading to stillbirth at the Raipur District Hospital, Pandri.

Following a directive from Health and Family Welfare Minister T.S. Singh Deo, the Director of Health Services has asked Health and Family Welfare Institute Deputy Director Dr Alka Gupta to investigate the tragedy.

Dr Gupta has been told to submit a detailed report within seven days. The   recommendation for action against the guilty officers and employees should be forwarded to the Director, Health Services.

According to reports, Mohan Sahu, the husband of the young mother Santoshi Sahu, lodged a written complaint with the Chhattisgarh Governor on Thursday.

The man stated that on July 13 he took his     24-year-old wife through 102 ambulance service at 4.30 pm to the District Hospital Kalibadi (Special Mother-Child Hospital) in Raipur after she developed labour pain.

But the woman was denied admission in the     hospital. Stating that no    doctor is available, the staff nurse asked them to come after 8.00 pm.

The distraught man then took his wife to the District Hospital, Pandri, at 6.00 pm. Mitanin Ritu Verma, who was with them, requested the       doctors to ensure timely treatment but this too was denied.

All through the ordeal, Santoshi Sahu sat on a chair near the gate.

At 10.36 pm, Santoshi Sahu had normal delivery. The infant was a girl. But it was (intra-uterine fetal death) stillbirth.

Her husband stated that it was to be their first child. He sought stern action against the doctors and staff for their   negligence.
